Opera House & Mt Kosciuszko - April 2019
A 5 day hike (was meant to be 6, why does that keep happening?!) around Mt Kosciuszko, with the main goal to find the Opera House hut. Full story
Thredbo to Hotham - December 2018
Two weeks of the AAWT (212km) from Thredbo to Hotham. Michelle's dad Michael (I know, everyone's name's too similar) came along for the first day. We had great weather, saw lots of snakes and Michelle was sick for most of it. More
solo snow hike Mt feathertop - October 2018
With Mickey off teaching at a music camp what else to do but run off to the snow?! First proper snow hike with snow shoes and poles needed. Just an overnighter to Feathertop and across the Razorback. Thought it was good to do something familiar with the change of season.
Larapinta Alice springs - August/September 2018
Larapinta, a 230km hike in the Northan Territory following the West MacDonald Ranges. We'd been looking forward to this one for a while; so completely different to anything either of us had done before. So dry, so red, so old. Known as the heart of Australia. Blog post

Cathedral range - July 2018
Another b'day hike! (I know right, any excuse). A quick overnighter on the Cathedral Range, 100km from Melbourne near Taggerty. It's a small range with the full loop track 18km, but within those kms you've got sheer cliffs, rock climbing and a fantastic tunnel.
Kanangra to Katoomba K2k - June 2018
The Blue Mountains, Mickey's stomping ground and first time to stretch his wings as leader. A late start meant time was against us, did we rise to the challenge?....sort of! Blog post
Mt Bogong Loop B'day hike - April 2018
Michelle's b'day hike. Great little loop around Mt Bogong using Quartz Ridge, Timms Spur and T Spur. Highlights include summit of Mt Bogong Victoria's highest mountain, finding the elusive Cairn Creek hut again and an unexpected sing-a-long in Cleve Cole Hut. Blog post
The Search for teddy's Hut - March 2018
Teddy’s Hut is near Thredbo. The AAWT goes within 10km of it on Cascade Trail, but there’s no marked track to the hut, and finding huts is a fun game to play!
Mt Feathertop - January 2018
Bringing in the New Year with a 3dayer hike (which was meant to be 4!) around Hotham. Highlights included a sunset viewed from Mt. Feathertop, and subsequently a very dark walk down 300m elevation back to the hut, and also seeing the alps in full summer - so. many. wild. flowers. This is a great 3-4day alps loop - click here for the full itinerary
australian alps walking track 2017
The AAWT is a 650km hike of mountainous and often remote walking from Walhalla (VIC) to Tharwa (ACT) across the great diving range. I (Michelle) spent a year planning and preparing for it with my friend Chris. To my complete surprise and pleasure I managed to complete it on the 18th of December 2017 in 43 days! It was an epic challenge to say the least and touch and go in parts managing injuries. I had a surprise hiking partner change 2/3rds into the hike which found Mickey on his first overnighter, which just happened to be 212km! Blog post.
